Man Utd eye move for 26y/o Bayern star, player offered to PL club by agent

Manchester United have kept Bayern Munich defender Dayot Upamecano on their radar as they look to bolster their defence in the summer window.

The Red Devils have bolstered their attacking areas by signing Matheus Cunha, Benjamin Sesko, and Bryan Mbeumo, but they also need reinforcement elsewhere, especially at the back.

Upamecano joined Bayern in 2021 and has since become a key player under Vincent Kompany. However, his future at the Allianz Arena has come into doubt in recent weeks.

Christian Falk told CFBayern that the Red Devils have included the 26-year-old on their list of priorities, as his contract is set to expire next summer.

Bayern are pushing hard to reach an agreement with Upamecano over a new deal, but as of now, there has been little or no progress.

The negotiations are dragging on for a long time, and it is leaving Bayern frustrated, as surely they do not want another Leroy Sane saga to unfold.

Falk says that the interest from Man Utd is making life difficult for Bayern. On top of it, Upamecano’s agent, Moussa Sissoko, has offered his client to Premier League clubs, including the Red Devils.

After Bayern’s recent win against Tottenham Hotspur, Upamecano was asked to comment on his future, but the defender remained coy.

Should Bayern sell Upamecano this summer?

According to a report from Football Transfers, Manchester United have made exploratory approaches to sign Marc Guehi, but they are also keeping tabs on Upamecano.

The news has come as a big surprise, as Bayern are expected to enter the new season with Upamecano and Jonathan Tah as their first-choice defenders, and it is Kim Min-jae who is frequently linked with a move away from the club.

Bayern are actively looking to offload Kingsley Coman to Al-Nassr, and the French winger is close to completing his move in the coming weeks.

The Bavarian giants should forget about selling their star defender this summer unless they receive an offer from Man Utd (or elsewhere) that is too good to turn down.
