Fabian Hurzeler has reiterated his no fear policy on selling star players.
But the [Albion](https://www.theargus.co.uk/sport/albion/) head coach’s words should not be interpreted as direct reference to Carlos Baleba and Manchester United.
Hurzeler was a guest on BBC 5 Live’s Monday Night Football ahead of the new Premier league season.
He did so as reports and social posts about United interest in Baleba continued.
Asked in more general terms whether he spent time worrying about other clubs circling for his top players, he said: “No, no chance.”
But it appeared to be no chance he would worry rather than no chance clubs would be “circling”.
He added: “I don’t feel fear. I'm not afraid of anything because the only thing we can do is be the best version we can be every day, like work as hard as we can.
“All the other things we can't influence, so we really have to focus on us.
“We really have to focus on our values.
“If you give the best effort you can give every day, if you try to be the best version every day – no matter if it is a staff member, a player, the head coach – then I am sure we have big potential.
“Then I am sure and very convinced that we can play a big season.
"For sure, we can't spend the money like the big teams but one of our biggest values is togetherness.
“And if you stay together, if we try to push our limits and try to increase the boundaries, then I'm sure we can compete with the big teams."
Hurzeler has spoken in the recent past about “replacing” Joao Pedro and Pervis Estupinan and said it cannot be done on a one-for-one basis.
He stressed that again and added: “We are a club who always find solutions.”
All indications from close to Albion have been dismissive of the chances of Baleba departing.
It has been The Argus’s understanding throughout the summer that he is seen as a big-money sale in the fire rather than in this window.
Hurzeler has said Baleba “will be back” with the first team after a knee injury while fellow midfielder Jack Hinshelwood was expected at training today as the head coach spoke on Saturday evening.
