Sources: Man City make Savinho transfer stance very clear to Tottenham after their opening enquiry

TBR Football understands that Manchester City are not overly keen on selling Savinho, and a deal for the Brazilian looks tricky at this point.

TBR Football first revealed Tottenham’s interest in Savinho last week, with the North London club being offered the chance to sign him through intermediaries.

Then on Monday, Tottenham stepped up talks for Savinho, having held club-to-club talks with Manchester City.

But after initial talks, the former Premier League champions have made it clear they want to keep the 21-year-old and a deal for Spurs is now seen as difficult.

Manchester City rebuff Tottenham’s initial Savinho enquiry

Tottenham Hotspur’s deal for Savinho is not over yet as they understand he is concerned about his World Cup chances, but agreeing a deal will be very tricky, sources have told Graeme Bailey, Chief Correspondent at TBR Football.

Manchester City hold an interest in Rodrygo Goes, however, they are keen to keep hold of their talented young Brazilian.

Savinho started 21 of City’s 38 Premier League matches last term, showing how tough it is to keep a spot in their team.

The 21-year-old faces strong competition for a spot in Carlo Ancelotti’s Brazil squad for the 2026 World Cup and knows he will need to be playing consistently.

At the Etihad Stadium, that is far from a guarantee, as Pep Guardiola’s side have a plethora of options in attack.

Omar Marmoush, Phil Foden, Rayan Cherki and Jeremy Doku are among the current wide options in their squad.

Man City have agreed to sell James McAtee to Nottingham Forest and Jack Grealish looks to be heading on loan to Everton.

TBR Football understands that Tottenham have also held talks for Eze. At this stage, signing both is seen as unlikely but not impossible.

How Savinho would fit into Thomas Frank’s Tottenham team

Savinho’s versatility is something which is likely to appeal to Thomas Frank, with the wide forward able to play on either flank.

TBR Football has been told by Manchester City expert, Srinivas Sadhanand, that Savinho is best on the right, which could allow Mohammed Kudus to feature in the number ten.

Previously, Kudus has revealed his favourite position is number ten, which is now a position Spurs must fill after losing James Maddison to a knee injury.

Meanwhile, if they were to land Eze, he would most likely be the player used in the number ten role.
