Alexander Isak is letting himself, his team-mates and the Newcastle United fans down by digging his heels in over a move to Liverpool this summer, according to Scottish football legend Ally McCoist.
The Swedish striker is reportedly adamant he will not play for the Magpies again amid interest from the Premier League champions, and is currently training separately from the squad.
Isak will not be available for Saturday's first Premier League game against Aston Villa as Eddie Howe feels he is unable to select the 25-year-old as things stands.
Newcastle have maintained their stance all summer, with the club reluctant to sell for anything less than their valuation and without a suitable replacement through the door.
Liverpool's only offer to date is well short of United's reported £150m valuation of the player, and there has yet to be a second offer from Anfield.

It is Isak's conduct which has come in for most of the criticism in recent weeks, with the striker missing United's trip to Singapore and South Korea last month. He is has not played a minute of pre-season and the disruption has meant Newcastle have had to switch their transfer priorities.
Respondiing on talkSPORT to a Liverpool fan Paul who felt Newcastle should have allowed Isak to leave by now, McCoist was quick to highlight where he felt Isak had gone wrong this summer.
CALLER: "I'm I'm just laughing head off these these Newcastle fans for weeks on end. Liverpool have lost our best players to the best team in the world numerous times. Barcelona, Real Madrid, you know, Alonso, Suarez, people like that. Torres even going to Chelsea, And we were we were one of the biggest clubs in the world and always have been. and we're losing players to them to them clubs. Who do Newcastle think they are?
McCOIST: "No, that's not the argument. That's not fair. the argument is the way he's going about it. That's the argument.
"The argument is how he's handled it. If he went the right way about it, he can he can put in a transfer request. He can ask Eddie how I want to go to Liverpool, And Eddie House says, 'Well, yeah, I'll let you go if I get the right offer or another setting forward in'.
"Once you start saying, 'I'm not turning up for my work' you're letting yourself down, you're letting your team-mates down, and you're letting the fans down."
Newcastle are currently examining striker options after missing out on Benjamin Sesko and Hugo Ekitike, with time running out for any deals before the game at Villa Park on Saturday lunchtime.
Howe is likely to ask Anthony Gordon to lead the line as a No 9, with Harvey Barnes, Anthony Elanga and Jacob Murphy competing for the wide roles.
