Club yet to hear from Crystal Palace despite transfer claims

FC Twente are yet to hear from Crystal Palace regarding defender Mees Hilgers, despite reports that the Premier League side are interested.

That’s according to [RTV Oost Sport journalist Tijmen van Wissing](https://x.com/vanwissing/status/1955023255120777273), who reports that ‘Crystal Palace’s interest in Hilgers is still unknown at FC Twente’.

Palace had been linked with the defender over the weekend, with an initial report from the UK being backed up by the ‘usually reliable’ X account WFC Groningen, according to FC Twente Insite.

They reported that Hilgers appeared to be on his way out of the Dutch club this summer as there was lots of interest outside of the Eredivisie in him. Crystal Palace, though, were pushing forwards and appeared to now be taking the lead for him.

This has naturally been picked up on in the Netherlands, but it seems Twente are unaware of the interest as yet. According to his information, Crystal Palace have not yet been in touch with Twente about the 24-year-old and know nothing of Crystal Palace’s reported interest in him either.

Of course, there is plenty of time for that to change, particularly if Marc Guehi were to depart before the end of the window but for now, there’s been no movement around Hilgers, at least according to Twente.
