On Saturday, RomaNews reported West Ham are in talks to sign AS Roma’s Lorenzo Pellegrini.
The outlet claimed the Hammers can execute a free transfer because Guido Rodriguez could be part of the move, even if the Italian side were facing troubles covering the Argentine’s wages.
Today’s Corriere dello Sport reports the Italian midfielder will be open to joining West Ham.
Before that, he wants to be sure that Roma definitely want to move him on, as he’s a huge fan of the club. If there is a role for him in the squad under Gian Piero Gasperini, he would be interested in staying.
RomaToday have more information. They also believe that Pellegrini would ideally want to stay in Rome but circumstances surrounding his fitness and role in the side can force him to leave.
The outlet report that West Ham are prepared to spend €5m to sign the 29-year-old.
This ‘symbolic sum’ would see Roma earn something from the midfielder’s sale, with his contract at the club having less than a year left.
The Hammers see this as a unique opportunity to sign an experienced midfielder at a low price and that is why contact has been made with the Giallorossi.
