Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Man Utd are still in touch with Brighton over Carlos Baleba. Although, a move looks unlikely.
Man Utd to pass on chance to sign Carlos Baleba ?
Manchester United are still chasing Carlos Baleba as they look to strengthen the heart of their midfield. Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed that the Red Devils remain in contact with the **Brighton man**’s camp.
Talks with the Seagulls are proving more difficult than expected. Brighton have a history of demanding large transfer fees for their best players.
The Red Devils are turning their attention to the midfield. They think they need to make changes after a poor 2024-25 season. Brighton signed Baleba from Lille in 2023 for around £23m. So, he is also on the profile the club is looking for. But, with just weeks left in the transfer window, the Seagulls are in no mood to let him go without a serious bid.
🚨🔴 Brighton are fully informed about Manchester United’s interest in Carlos #Baleba, but they are totally relaxed as they are still determined to keep him.

Brighton remain confident
The Seagulls’ recruitment strategy has made them one of the toughest negotiators in the PL. They buy young talent, develop them into key players, and cash in only when the price is right. It is the same path that saw stars like Moises Caicedo and Alexis Mac Allister leave for huge sums. For Utd, that means Baleba will not come cheap.
Head coach Ruben Amorim wants depth in midfield. He wants to match his newly assembled strike force and compete with the league’s top clubs. With their first game against Arsenal coming up in days, followed by Fulham and Burnley, time is running out.
Whether United will be able to complete this transfer remains to be seen. For the time being the ball is in Man United’s court. Although, Carlos Baleba’s future will be followed closely as the window begins nearing a close.
