Dominic Solanke says Aston Villa have a £12m player who is so underrated

Aston Villa are one of the best teams in the Premier League these days.

Indeed, Villa have now qualified for Europe three years in a row under Unai Emery, and they often cause headaches for the so-called traditional big six.

However, despite Villa’s brilliance in recent years, many of their players remain seriously underrated.

Ollie Watkins is underrated, while Pau Torres doesn’t get the credit he deserves at times too.

Speaking to Fotmob, Dominic Solanke has been asked to name the most underrated player he has played with, and, interestingly, Solanke named another Aston Villa player as his pick here.

Dominic Solanke says Ezri Konsa is underrated

Solanke spoke about Ezri Konsa, claiming that he’s a very underrated player.

The £12m man has played with Solanke for England in the past, and the striker says that he is a very good defender.

“The most underrated player you have played with?” Solanke was asked.

“I’d probably say Ezri Konsa, he’s underrated to be fair, he’s a really good centre-back,” Solanke said.

Dominic Solanke’s record vs Ezri Konsa

Solanke says Konsa is a really good defender, but his record against the Aston Villa ace suggests he’s rarely struggled against the centre-back.

Indeed, Solanke may say that Konsa is a great player, but when these two face off, Solanke has often got the better of his Aston Villa counterpart.

Games 6

Wins 2

Draws 1

Losses 3

Goals 4

Four goals in six games is a great return from Solanke, and even though he rates Konsa, he seems to know how to score against him.

Unfortunately for Solanke, he’s not managed to find much of a winning formula against Konsa, scoring just two victories in six appearances against the England international in his career.

Konsa and Solanke are two players who will certainly be looking to impress this season as they look to make Thomas Tuchel’s final squad for the 2026 World Cup.
