Leeds United continue their search for a new striker, with just days till the Premier League opener. The Whites ended their pre-season tour unbeaten.
Daniel Farke’s side held their own against elite clubs like AC Milan, Villarreal and Manchester United. Defensively, Leeds were great, and most of their new signings impressed. It was in attack that saw some problems. Farke blamed this on a lack of reinforcements in that area.

Leeds have signed seven players this summer, and only one of them has been an attacker. As it stands, the club are heading into the new season with Lukas Nmecha and Joel Piroe as their only strikers. Daniel Farke also complained that the club had failed to replace Manor Solomon, who was a big part of why the club won promotion.

Michail Antonio left West Ham after a decade with the club. The Hammers failed to offer the striker a new contract, after he missed multiple months after a scary leg injury following a car accident. Antonio was spotted at Thorp Arch recently, sparking rumours that he was about to join Leeds United.
The striker confirmed to FourFourTwo that he did visit Leeds United’s training ground, but only on business. Antonio explained that he was there to promote a new sports supplements company he has founded. He also added that he visited Ipswich Town and Oxford United.
Striker speaks on his future
As for football, the 35-year old is eager to return to playing. Antonio has told FourFourTwo that he has spoken to multiple clubs about joining them for the upcoming season:
“I’m still going to play. I’m speaking to a few clubs right now, I’m just kind of waiting for the right offer to come and move forward from there.
“I definitely know I’m good. I know I’m fit, just waiting for the right opportunity. I’ve had a couple of offers – I’m kind of just holding out to see if anything better comes,” Antonio said.
Could Leeds sign Antonio?
Antonio has fully recovered from the horrific injury he sustained. He has even featured for Jamaica on international duty this summer. So he would be fit enough to play more football going forward. It is still a huge risk to sign him given his age, and the manner of the injury he suffered.
Leeds could very well have him as an alternative if their main target fails. An attacking player with 68 Premier League goals is useful at this level.
