LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — The Nevada Supreme Court has ruled in favor of former Las Vegas Raiders coach Jon Gruden **[in his lawsuit against the NFL](https://news3lv.com/news/local/former-raiders-coach-jon-gruden-wants-nevada-supreme-court-to-reconsider-lawsuit#)**.
Gruden claims the league leaked damaging emails to the media, leading to his resignation from the team in 2021.
In a 5-2 decision, the justices found that the NFL's attempt to force Gruden's complaint into arbitration proceedings overseen by NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, who is the target of Gruden's civil lawsuit, was "unconscionable."
As a result, Gruden's case can proceed in public rather than being handled in arbitration behind closed doors, unless the NFL appeals the decision to the Supreme Court and succeeds.
