Tottenham suffer blow as PL rivals agree deal to sign Man City star on loan; player snubbed…

Manchester City star Jack Grealish snubs Tottenham Hotspur to join Everton for the upcoming season

Tottenham manager Thomas Frank is in a tight spot right now as the Lilywhites have not yet found a replacement of Heung-Min Son. The legendary winger called time on his Spurs career after a successful ten-year stint at N17. The 32-year-old also went out on a high after captaining the North London club during their Europa League success last season.

Now, Spurs boss Thomas Frank will be hoping that the Lilywhites can bring in a player that can fill out the void left behind by the South Korea international. The North London club already have Mathys Tel on the left-flank, and the Frenchman can play on the wing if needed. Also, Thomas Frank rates the 20-year-old highly and has often praised the ex-Bayern Munich player’s work ethic and technical brilliance.

But with Spurs aiming to compete hard on all four fronts in the upcoming season, Daniel Levy must look to bring in more depth in the wide areas. The new Tottenham manager relies heavily on his wingers, and wants them to get in behind the defence at all times during games. So, it is necessary that a quality player is brought in by the club before the window closes.

This transfer window has not gone to plan for Tottenham by the looks of it. That can still change if the Lilywhites up their ante in the coming days. But there is a strong concern amongst the fans around N17 that Thomas Frank is being set up to fail if the club does not bring in a new left-winger in due course.

There is no surprise that Spurs spent weeks trying to persuade Manchester City star Jack Grealish to N17. It was reported earlier that the Lilywhites were eyeing a possible deal to land the England international after he was not selected for City’s Club World Cup squad. The report had also stated that the Cityzens had slammed a £40m price tag for his services.

However, Tottenham have suffered a setback in their efforts to land the 29-year-old in the summer. As per David Ornstein (via X), Everton have agreed a deal with Manchester City to sign Jack Grealish on loan for the upcoming season. The Toffees also have an option to sign the England international permanently for £50m next summer. This is a massive setback for Spurs as the player snubbed a move to N17 before agreeing a deal to play for Everton.

Jack Grealish never really got going at the Etihad Stadium under Pep Guardiola. And it is fair to say that the legendary manager failed to get the best out of him by playing him in a rigid system. Signing a player of Grealish’s calibre would have been a massive step up for Spurs, in terms of experience and quality. But on the bright side, it is fair to say that the Lilywhites dodged a bullet as the player is seemingly past his peak and his high wages might have caused an issue for Tottenham.
