The Miami Dolphins dumped two valuable pieces of their roster this offseason by trading away All-Pro cornerback Jalen Ramsey and tight end Jonnu Smith amid two mutual disagreements related to fit and contract terms.

Miami now sees two integral pieces of their last playoff team walk out the door, in turn ending their opportunity to compete in 2025 more than before.

Among the few bright spots remaining on this Dolphins’ roster are the speedy receivers Jaylen Waddle and former Kansas City Chiefs great Tyreek Hill, but the latter has shown various signs that the sun in South Beach isn’t shining as bright as he’d like.

Hill posted an iconic “empty house” shot from Fresh Prince of Bel Air after the Ramsey/Smith trade. He’s been on camera seeming excited about the prospect of being traded. And of course, this all comes after his “I’m out, bro” tirade following the end of Miami’s season last year.

So things aren’t doing too hot. Obviously the Dolphins want to keep one of the game’s best receivers, but that’s only beneficial if he equally wants to be a part of the team … and recent reports aren’t making that seem like the case.

ESPN reporter Jeremy Fowler might be hinting at Miami nearing the end of their rope as well, with rumblings growing that a Hill trade could be in the works. There would be many teams calling if that is the case.

“I have talked to a few teams who are at least monitoring his future a little bit,” Fowler said. “Could he be a potential trade target? Now, I know the Dolphins earlier this summer were telling teams, ‘No, we’re not trading Tyreek Hill.’ But they just wonder, is he going to be available?

“It could be wishful thinking, maybe they want him to be available,” Fowler clarified. “But he’s a player, when I bring up to teams, ‘Hey, who is sort of a trade target you’re watching?’ — they bring up Tyreek Hill. So, we’ll see. He’s a big option for Tua [Tagovailoa], that would be a major move if they did move away from him.”

A possible reunion? That type of buzz was brought up after signs that Hill was frustrated with his team, with hopeful Chiefs fans suggesting he could come back to where it all started.

It’d be a massive headache to take on, as he would be another hungry body to feed targets. Plus, there’s a massive $27 million ticket Hill costs – something KC simply cannot afford.

Things may be in the works elsewhere, but don’t expect Kansas City to be buyers here, despite how romantic a Patrick Mahomes and Tyreek Hill reunion would be.

Mahomes will still have plenty of weapons this season without bringing back Tyreek. Xavier Worthy, “Hollywood” Brown, and Rashee Rice are expected to be one of the league’s most explosive trios when on the field together.

The Chiefs should be focused on a storybook ending with another Lombardi Trophy in arms, not a reunion for a former player.
