Club invite offers for top Leeds United target – £23m triggers transfer

Leeds United sporting director Adam Underwood is under pressure ahead of the start of the new season. The Whites’ dealmaker earned plaudits for the early defensive and midfield reinforcements, but his failure to add to Daniel Farke’s attack is earning him scathing criticism.

The Leeds sporting director still has a couple of weeks until the end of the window to redeem himself and bring in the forwards needed to try and survive in the Premier League next season. However, the onus is on him as Farke has made it clear that the squad cannot handle a full season of top-flight football without further additions to their forward line.

Farke has been vocal about the squad’s needs in the final weeks of the transfer window, and the club are pushing hard to secure a few new faces soon. Leeds want to bring in a striker, a winger and an attacking midfielder while also trying to sign a replacement for Isaac Schmidt, who wants to join Werder Bremen before the end of the window.

Signing a striker appears to be the biggest priority as the Leeds boss feels he lacks a forward who is good enough to start in the Premier League, and the club are seeking to bring in a new number 9 as they continue to assess their options.

Roma are waiting for offers for Leeds United target Artem Dovbyk

Dovbyk scored 17 times in all competitions last season for Roma, but following the arrival of Evan Ferguson, the club want to offload him.

Roma signed him from Girona for a fee in the region of £26m last summer. However, he doesn’t suit Gian Piero Gasperini’s system and looked poor during pre-season.

Leeds made an enquiry for the striker earlier in the window, and have made a move to revive talks to sign him before the summer shopping season stops.

However, according to Tutto Mercato, Roma are yet to receive any formal bids for the striker in the ongoing transfer window.

His representatives have been offering him to other teams, and Leeds are weighing up the possibility of taking him to Elland Road, but Roma are still waiting for offers.

The Serie A giants were looking to recoup the fee they paid for him last summer, but are now ready to sell for as little as £23m, a figure that would let them avoid taking a loss on their books.

Leeds still want a different striker

Dovbyk has been monitored at Leeds, and he has the physical attributes to lead the line in the Premier League as per Farke’s requirements.

The forward scored more than 40 goals over the last two seasons, but it appears Leeds are still chasing Rodrigo Muniz.

Atalanta have made a concrete move to sign the striker, but Leeds are still in the race for the Fulham man and are pushing to convince the Brazilian.

It seems Leeds will only turn to other targets if it becomes clear Muniz doesn’t want to join the Yorkshire giants in the ongoing transfer window.

However, the club are also running out of time and need to decide on their striker target soon.
