Report: West Ham think Graham Potter's 'sensational' target is too expensive, Irons have been 'priced out'

West Ham United need a lot of help from the transfer market before the window shuts.

The Hammers have signed three new players already – El Hadji Malick Diouf, Kyle Walker-Peters and Callum Wilson. Jean-Clair Todibo has also joined the club permanently.

Graham Potter is still looking for reinforcements this summer. The Irons boss is keen to sign a creative midfielder as West Ham are open to selling Lucas Paqueta after already letting Mohammed Kudus go.

A number of names have been linked with a move to the London Stadium, but it looks like one key target will not be joining West Ham.

West Ham have been ‘priced out’ of a move to sign Harvey Elliott

Harvey Elliott is a candidate to leave Liverpool this summer.

The Premier League champions have signed Florian Wirtz for a big fee this summer, while Arne Slot named Jeremie Frimpong as someone who would act as a backup to Mohamed Salah.

That means Elliott, who was once hailed as a ‘sensational talent’ by Jurgen Klopp (BBC), will not get as many minutes as he should in the upcoming campaign, and that is why his future is up in the air.

TBR Football confirmed earlier in August that West Ham are among the clubs interested in signing Elliott, along with Fulham and Tottenham Hotspur.

RB Leipzig, where Klopp calls the shots these days, want Elliott too, and it will be interesting to see where he will end up.

The Guardian have now confirmed West Ham’s interest in the Liverpool man, but they have claimed that the Irons have been ‘priced out’ of a move.

Reports have claimed that Liverpool want £40 million for Elliott this summer.

West Ham are set to miss out on another key target

Elliott would’ve been a good signing for West Ham because of his versatility, but it looks like that will not be happening now.

That is a shame, and, in more bad news for Potter, he will not be able to sign another one of his targets either.

TBR exclusively revealed that Jacob Ramsey has no interest in a move to West Ham this summer, even though he could be on the move from Aston Villa.

Now, David Ornstein has confirmed our claim and added that Ramsey’s preferred destination is Newcastle United – not West Ham.

It will be interesting to see who the Hammers will go for now.
