Anfield abseil raises £2,000 for charity

A tiler who works for property restoration firm, The Forshaw Group, abseiled down Liverpool Football Club’s Anfield stadium on Saturday, 2 August, to raise money and awareness for Down’s Syndrome Association.

Darren Lahive was fundraising for the Down’s Syndrome Association, which aims to create the conditions that all people with Down’s syndrome need to live full and rewarding lives.

Darren successfully completed the 100ft descent down the side of Anfield stadium, passing the iconic Liverpool football club crest.

Darren set a target to raise £500 through his JustGiving page,

but has now raised nearly £2,000 for Down’s Syndrome Association.

The company Darren works for, The Forshaw Group, is a restoration specialist company, which works with insurance companies and loss adjusters to renovate commercial and residential properties damaged by fire or flood across the North West.

Based in Knowsley, The Forshaw Group is also committed to supporting causes and events locally, regionally, nationally, and internationally, for the good of people, the community and planet.

The company sponsored Darren’s abseil, and it also held a bake sale at its headquarters on Friday, 1 August, for team members to show their support. The bake sale raised £60, and The Forshaw Group donated an additional £100.

Speaking of Darren’s charitable endeavour, Liam Hanlon, managing director for The Forshaw Group, said, “We are incredibly proud of Darren’s efforts in helping to raise nearly two thousand pounds for a really worthwhile cause.

“It’s currently a tough time for charities, and we want to help as many people as possible, whilst providing and supporting fun and memorable events for our team, and their families and friends.”
