Real Mallorca are interested in Fulham defender Jorge Cuenca, with him one of the options being considered as the Spanish side look to strengthen their defence.
That’s according to Ultima Hora, who report that Mallorca needs to strengthen their defensive core this summer with a player that fits manager Jagoba Arrasate’s demands.
They want a high quality third defender to compete with the current options in the squad and, along with youth player David López, complete the squad in that position.
Among the options being considered by the club’s CEO of football Pablo Ortells is Fulham defender Cuenca. He is very popular at the Spanish club, and the transfer is being worked on.
The Fulham defender is well known to Mallorca’s sporting director, who followed him during his time at Villarreal.
He left the Spanish side for Fulham in a €7m deal last summer but only managed 12 appearances totalling 710 minutes under Marco Silva last season.
That could open the door to a return to Spain and Cuenca is one of the most popular names being considered by Mallorca at this moment in time. One major problem, though, lies in the very high salary the 25-year-old earns at Craven Cottage.
Those economic differences would need working out and Ortells is studying the viability of the deal.
