Minnesota Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards and his baby mama, Ayesha Howard, continue to be embroiled in a legal battle. According to US Weekly, Edwards filed a motion in Los Angeles Superior Court on Aug. 6 in which he alleged that Howard is now seeking $500,000 in damages and a public apology amid their legal battle.
"The NBA All-Star said his ex demanded a public apology from him that was required to be posted 'on all of his official social media platforms, publicly retracting all false and defamatory or misleading statements made about her during' the court battle and 'affirming her integrity and her role as a mother of their daughter.'”
The troubles involving these two appeared to have been settled on May 20. A court granted Howard sole legal and physical custody of their daughter, Aubri Summers, and instructed both parties to finalize an official agreement. Unfortunately, that's where a snag was hit.
Howard alleged that the agreement sent to her by Edwards' team contained a provision she never accepted. It stated she couldn't disparage the Timberwolves star publicly, and that she couldn't post any pictures of their daughter.
Howard had no intention of agreeing to the provision, and in the latest motion that has been filed, Edwards' team said that it was removed. They state the 38-year-old still isn't signing the agreement, though, and has put forth those new demands mentioned earlier.
Howard has explained why she is seeking $500,000 in damages, a figure that has been termed "exorbitant" by the 24-year-old Edwards.
“I want to make it clear that my request for compensation was never tied to agreeing to any custody orders," Howard said. "I asked for compensation due to the substantial financial and reputational damages I’ve endured during this prolonged litigation with Anthony Edwards.”
Edwards and Howard couldn't have imagined things would get this messy when they reportedly crossed paths for the first time in 2022. She claimed to have discovered she was pregnant in January 2024, but the father wasn't too happy upon hearing the news.
Edwards allegedly urged Howard to get an abortion and made it clear he had no interest in being a part of the child's life. She didn't agree to his suggestion, and Aubri was born in October 2024.
Just weeks after Aubri's birth, Edwards filed a paternity suit in Georgia. In response, Howard filed one of her own in California. Edwards claimed she had done so in order to get more child support.
A California judge sided with the NBA star in March 2025, and Howard appealed that decision. She has also dismissed the "gold digger" allegations that have come her way, thanks to this situation and her having a child with rapper Lil Baby.
