Tottenham plot stunning move for former Real Madrid wonderkid, club are 'big admirers' of 20yo…

**Tottenham Hotspur have set their sights on a stunning move for Como wonderkid Nico Paz.**

[The Athletic](https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/6546338/2025/08/12/transfer-latest-manchester-united-arsenal-real-madrid-liverpool-carlos-baleba/) reports that Spurs are ‘big admirers’ of the 20-year-old Argentina international, although striking a deal will be anything but straightforward.

[After missing out on Morgan Gibbs-White](https://whiteheartlane.com/nottingham-forest-holding-up-illegal-tottenham-deal-for-gibbs-white/), who opted to sign a new contract with Nottingham Forest, Tottenham have turned their attention to Paz.

They see him as a potential solution to boost creativity in the midfield, but any move for the talented attacking midfielder would be complicated.

Como have made it clear they do not want to sell, and Real Madrid hold the right to match any bid for their former player.

Paz joined Como from Madrid in August last year for a fee of around €6 million (£5.1m).

Since then, he has become one of the most exciting young midfielders in Italy, scoring six goals and providing nine assists in 35 Serie A appearances.

Paz was instrumental in helping Cesc Fabregas’ side secure a top-half finish in their first season back in the Italian top flight after over two decades.

His performances have caught the attention of several clubs, but Madrid opted not to trigger an €8m (£6.9m) buy-back clause this summer.

They still have two more future clauses at their disposal. They can re-sign him for €9m (£7.7m) in 2026 and €10m (£8.6m) in 2027.

Even if they miss out on those clauses, they have the right to match any offers for Paz if he is to leave Como in the future.

Tottenham’s interest in a creative midfielder has intensified following the news that James Maddison will miss most of the season after rupturing his anterior cruciate ligament.

With Dejan Kulusevski also set to miss the start of the season, Tottenham are desperate to bring in a creative midfielder. It remains to be seen if they’ll act on their interest in Paz.
