Liverpool in talks to sign two defenders

Champions Liverpool host Bournemouth on the opening night of the new Premier League campaign on Friday.

The Reds cruised to the top flight title last term, and have since recruited heavily in the transfer market.

Milos Kerkez, Florian Wirtz and Hugo Ekitike are among those to have arrived at Anfield, while Darwin Nunez and Luis Diaz are two of the players that have been sold.

Slot will hope to see his side start the new season strongly, having fallen to defeat against Crystal Palace in the Community Shield at Wembley on Sunday afternoon.

With that in mind, it appears that Liverpool have not yet finished their transfer business this summer.

As per Fabrizio Romano, the Premier League holders are in talks to sign both Marc Guehi and Giovanni Leoni.

The journalist claims that the Merseyside giants are in talks with both Crystal Palace and Italian side Parma, about moves for Guehi and Leoni respectively.

Romano claims that the Reds do not view the two players as alternative options, with Liverpool instead hoping to sign both defenders.

Centre-back Guehi, 25, has established himself as one of the best defenders in the Premier League over the past few seasons, and is also now a regular for England.

He has been heavily linked with a move away from Selhurst Park in recent months, and Romano suggests that Liverpool see the chance to sign the Englishman as a big opportunity.

Leoni, meanwhile, joined Parma last year from fellow Italian side Sampdoria, and has since played 17 times for the club across all competitions.

Romano claims that Liverpool have been working on deals for both defenders for several weeks now, with the Premier League champions keen to add bother players to Slot’s squad before the end of the current transfer window.
