The transfer saga surrounding Leeds United’s pursuit of Fulham striker Rodrigo Muniz continues with the Brazilian now the subject of an offer from a different club, currently on the European scene.
Following the signing of Lukas Nmecha towards the end of June, Leeds made it clear they wanted to sign a starting striker. One that would go above Nmecha in the pecking order at Elland Road this season.
Soon after, it quickly transpired that the club’s priority was Fulham ace Muniz. But initial reports said Muniz would cost a whopping £50m. Leeds saw an initial offer worth £32m for Muniz rejected by Fulham.
Since then, Newcastle have held talks for Muniz while Italian side Atalanta have thrown their hat into the ring. It is claimed that Muniz wants to join Atalanta, who have qualified for the Champions League.

Leeds learn of Muniz asking price as Atalanta bid rejected
Another twist in the Muniz saga has emerged on Tuesday. Atalanta are pushing to land Muniz as they wave goodbye to Ademola Lookman. The Nigeria international is expected to join Inter Milan soon.
According to Belgian reporter Sacha Tavolieri, Atalanta have tabled a bid worth £34.5m (€40m) to land Muniz. However, Fulham have rejected the bid, informing Atalanta they want £43m (€50m) to sell him.
He said on X: “Fulham reject €40M for Rodrigo Muniz! The Cottagers are demanding €50M. Muniz is determined to join Atalanta and has informed the English club of his intentions.”

Leeds will need to break their transfer record to sign Muniz
Leeds are getting desperate now. It is less than a week until The Whites take to the field and face Everton, and have failed to make a signing since the £15.6m arrival of Lucas Perri from Lyon back on July 26.
For most, a new striker was a crucial position where the club required strengthening. Yes, there is still three weeks in the window and most work gets done at the latter stages, but it could cost Leeds points.
Ultimately, if Leeds are going to tempt Muniz to move to Yorkshire, they will have to hope Atalanta cannot go match Fulham’s asking price and then move. Anything over £35.5m will be a record transfer.
