Man City boss Guardiola keen to sign La Liga superstar

Pep Guardiola could hand competitive debuts to a number of players when Manchester City face Wolves on Saturday.

The Citizens have been busy during the transfer window so far, with Rayan Cherki and Tijjani Reijnders among those to have arrived at The Etihad.

Kevin De Bruyne is one of those to have departed City, who struggled last term, but Guardiola will expect to see his side improve on their dismal campaign last season.

Now, with the end of the transfer window fast approaching, it appears that City may still make further additions to Guardiola’s squad.

As per Fabrizio Romano, Man City are showing serious interest in Real Madrid’s Rodrygo and could move for the Brazilian if Savinho departs The Etihad.

Savinho has emerged as a surprise target for Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur, and Romano claims that City could move for his fellow countryman if he does depart to join the North London outfit.

Rodrygo, 24, has established himself as one of the best players in the world over the past few seasons, having joined Real from Santos back in 2019.

Since then he has scored 68 goals and registered 51 assists in 270 games for the Spanish giants across all competitions, but his future in the Spanish capital has been thrown into doubt in recent months.

After Xabi Alonso took charge of Real, Rodrygo started just one of their six matches at the FIFA Club World Cup.

That has seen a number of sides show interest in the players situation, and Romano claims that City boss Guardiola is a huge admirer of the Brazil international.

It is claimed that the Spaniard is keen to work with the winger, and City could therefore move to sign the La Liga star is Savinho does depart.
