Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow has been good as advertised ever since being the number one overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft from the LSU Tigers. Burrow has helped Cincinnati win a couple of AFC North titles and get to them a Super Bowl.

There is a chance that he could lead the Bengals to another Super Bowl appearance in the future as well. A lot of people feel like Burrow is one of the top five quarterbacks in the NFL. What did some other coaches around the league have to say about Cincinnati’s star quarterback?

There is no doubt that Burrow is a Tier-1 quarterback in the NFL and the Athletic views Burrow as a 1A and 1B quarterback situation with Kansas City Chiefs Patrick Mahomes. Despite Cincinnati missing the playoffs with a 9-8 record last season, Burrow had an MVP caliber season.
The Athletic was interviewing many people across the league about 34 different quarterbacks. One NFL head coach told Mike Sando of the Athletic about Burrow,
“He is the closest thing to Joe Montana that I have seen. That is about as big a compliment I can give you as a quarterback.”
Montana won four Super Bowls in his NFL career and he was very successful with the San Francisco 49ers. Burrow does not have a Super Bowl ring yet, but he was the closet one to winning one not named Mahomes over the last several seasons. During the 2024 NFL season, Burrow completed 70.6% of his passes for 4,918 yards, 43 touchdowns, and nine interceptions.
He was ranked first in the NFL in passing yards and was also ranked first in passing touchdowns. There is a chance that he could be Top 5 in passing yards and passing touchdowns once during the 2025 NFL season for Cincinnati. The Bengals have missed the playoffs the last two seasons and if they finally get in this year, there is a chance that they could be a Super Bowl contender because of Burrow.
