For months, it has sounded like Jonathan Kuminga wants to leave the Golden State Warriors.
Despite that desire, there has been no real movement for him to find a new team, and he remains one of the biggest free agents on the market.
According to Anthony Slater, via Evan Sidery, the Warriors and Kuminga “continue to be in a contract stalemate with no movement.”
Apparently, Kuminga’s representation offered the team a three-year, $82 million deal, but the Warriors said no to that.

The Warriors have reportedly offered Kuminga a two-year, $45 million deal.
They know that Kuminga wants a brighter future with a different team, one that will give him more time on the court and a bigger role.
They also know that he won’t get that with them.
Therefore, they are offering a deal that they feel is tradeable, because it’ll lay the groundwork for a move at midseason.
But Kuminga apparently doesn’t like that idea, and he wants a contract that is better for him, one that doesn’t consider the well-being of the team.
He hopes to be a long-term building block for another team, and he knows that things won’t change with the Warriors.
However, he also knows he needs a contract to start the season, and he might not have many other options.
This is why most people believe he will agree to the qualifying offer from the Warriors, with the full expectation of him leaving by the trade deadline in the middle of the season.
Kuminga will likely start the season as a Warrior, but he probably won’t stay in that jersey for long.
