Everton sign Jack Grealish on loan

Everton have signed Jack Grealish on a season long loan from Manchester City.

The 29-year-old will be looking to bounce back from a disappointing season at Manchester City where he only featured 20 times in the Premier League as Pep Guardiola's side ended the campaign with just the Community Shield.

Starting his career at boyhood club Aston Villa, Grealish first made his debut against Manchester City in 2013/14 season and was part of the team that reached the FA Cup final the following year, losing 4-0 to Arsenal.

The season prior Grealish spent a season on loan at Notts County scoring five times as they finished 20th in League One.

In 2019/20 in Villa's first season back in the top-flight Grealish scored the goal which secured the Villian's Premier Status on the last day of the season with a 1-1 draw at the London Stadium against West Ham.

The following season was a standout with the English International scoring six goals and registering 12 assists for Dean Smith's side which resulted with Grealish being apart of the England squad which reached the final in Euro 2020 against Italy.

During the Euros, Grealish came on as a late substitute against Germany in which he set up the second goal as England won 2-0 and featured in the final as England lost to Italy on penalties.

Grealish joined City from Aston Villa for a then British record fee of 100m back in 2021. While in Manchester the midfielder won multiple trophies including a treble in 2023 where he played a key-part as City beat Inter Milan in the Champions League final, to win the trophy for the very first time.

This summer Grealish was left out of the Club World Cup and that looked like it signalled the end for the England international, who's also featured for England in the 2022 World Cup.

Grealish becomes Everton's sixth summer recruit alongside Charly Alcaraz, Theirno Barry, Mark Travers, Adam Aznou and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall as David Moyes is rebuilding his side as they start life at the Hill Dickinson Stadium for the upcoming seasons.

When speaking to Evertontv Grealish expressed his delight at joining the club.

"As soon as I spoke to the manager, I knew there was only one place that I wanted to go. On social media, I've been flooded with messages from Everton supporters, so there's that side of it as well and that's another reason why I chose Everton.

"I want to say thank you to the fans for all of the messages I've had already. Thank you for all of the love and support. I hope I can repay you now and I'm sure I will."

The midfielder will wear the number 18. shirt which was previously worn by another former Aston Villa player Ashley Young.
