Ex-NBA player heading to prison pleads for Donald Trump to pardon him

Former NBA player Sebastian Telfair is pleading for President Donald Trump to pardon him and keep him from going to prison.

Telfair spoke with TMZ Sports recently after it was determined that he violated the conditions of his supervised release in his healthcare fraud case. He told the website that the situation is “definitely some bull[expletive].

“Trump, go check in on my story and you’re definitely going to want to pardon me,” Sebastian Telfair told TMZ. “You’ll hold me accountable and want me to continue to go do good. But I did too good to be sending anybody to jail.”

Telfair is set to report to prison on Tuesday.

According to TMZ, he is one of several former NBA players accused of running a scheme to steal money from the NBA’s healthcare plan.

Telfair was originally sentenced to time served, plus three years of supervised release. However, it was later determined that he did not meet the terms of his release, leading to him receiving a six-month prison sentence.

Telfair told TMZ that the issue is related to “paperwork” and the whole situation is “super unfair.”

Sebastian Telfair spent 10 seasons in the NBA, playing for the Trail Blazers, Celtics, Timberwolves, Clippers, Cavaliers, Suns, Raptors and Thunder.

He averaged 7.4 points, 1.6 rebounds and 3.5 assists over the course of his career.

The Brooklyn, New York native was one of the top high school players in the country, before opting to turn pro directly from high school rather than go to college.
