Manchester United’s Harry Maguire is a huge fan of a current Manchester City star.
The English defender has played alongside some of the best players in the world throughout his career, having shared locker rooms with the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Harry Kane, and Casemiro, to name a few.
Therefore, it is fair to say that the centre-back knows a thing or two about what a good player looks like, and the 32-year-old has been heaping praise on a current member of Pep Guardiola’s dressing room, who he has labelled as “unbelievable.”

John Stones is the best centre-back Harry Maguire has played with
Maguire is no stranger to praising Man City stars after the defender had nice words to say about Jack Grealish following an impressive performance from the winger for England against Finland last October, and the Man United star has been at it again.
The 32-year-old was a recent guest on Rio Ferdinand Presents, and when asked to pick a five-a-side team, John Stones was Maguire’s only defender.
“I’m going to go with John Stones. Unbelievable,” Maguire said about the Man City star.

“In terms of me and him having a partnership, I felt like we were so understanding of each other. And I think he’s obviously struggled over the last couple of years with injuries, but during the treble season, when he was unbelievable.
“He’s probably played number six, really, he could play anywhere, he is so good on the ball and understood the game so well. So yeah, I go John Stones.”
Maguire has always been a fan of Stones as the defender was quick to praise the Man City star last summer at Euro 2024 following a win over Serbia.
The centre-back is one of the best to do it in the Premier League in his position, but recent injuries have made people forget that; however, Maguire is doing his part to make sure they don’t.
John Stones and Harry Maguire’s record together
Stones and Maguire have only ever played with each other with England and have been on the same pitch together on 39 different occasions, the first coming during the 2016/17 season in a 1-0 win over Lithuania.
The centre-back pairing have only linked up for one goal together, which came in a 2-1 win over Poland, while in games that earn points, they have helped England to an average of 2.03 points per game.
Stones and Maguire will not be Thomas Tuchel’s first choice pairing for England going forward, but the pair may still enjoy being part of Three Lions squads together over the coming year.
From a Man City point of view, Stones plans to remain at the Etihad Stadium, with the 31-year-old hoping a positive campaign will earn him a new contract with the Manchester club ahead of the 2026/27 season.
