Nottingham Forest have been chasing AC Milan star Yunus Musah throughout the summer window, with Evangelos Marinakis’ next steps in the pursuit revealed after seeing a £26m bid rejected.
Forest’s interest in the USA international has been complicated by Crystal Palace’s interest in Musah, but the Eagles aren’t the only club attempting to beat the Reds to their midfield target.
Alongside Palace, Napoli have been making moves for Musah with Milan open to selling the 22-year-old, but Forest look to be making the most progress given the bid.
Marinakis will have been assessing his next steps after the bid was rejected, with one report suggesting that the Reds are far from resigned to defeat.

Nottingham Forest will return with a fresh bid for Yunus Musah
Back at the start of July, Nottingham Forest News revealed that Musah was offered to Forest, with the rumours continuing amid talk of other central midfield options.
With the opening offer rejected, though, Forest know that Milan are looking for a figure around £30m with add-ons, and TEAMtalk believe that the Reds are willing to push the Italian side with an increased bid.
The report said: “AC Milan and Nottingham Forest are continuing talks over Yunus Musah, after the Premier League side made their first official offer during the latest round of negotiations.
🚨🗣️ AC Milan and Forest remain in contact for Musah, with NFFC tabling their first bid at ~€30m all-in.
Personal terms in place, but an agreement between clubs is missing.
A new round of talks is expected soon: Nottingham are willing to raise the offer.

MORE FOREST STORIES
“Forest have proposed a €30million (£25.9m) package, including bonuses, for the USA midfielder. […] However, with interest from coach Massimiliano Allegri and Musah’s importance to the squad, AC Milan are now holding out for closer to €30m plus bonuses, potentially reaching €35m (£30.2m) in total.”
“[…]The feeling around the deal is that Forest are genuinely interested and may make the extra effort to meet AC Milan’s updated demands, though no final decision has yet been taken.”
As Forest ponder their next move, they at least don’t have to worry about agreeing terms with Musah himself, something that wasn’t always guaranteed in this ongoing saga.
Yunus Musah has already said yes to Nottingham Forest
With Napoli in the race before Forest, it had previously been suggested that Musah preferred to remain in Italy rather than venture to the Premier League.
However, Forest’s bid must’ve turned his head, with TEAMtalk’s report suggesting that the American is now open to a move to the City Ground.
The report said: “On the player’s side, Musah has already agreed personal terms in principle with Nottingham Forest, on a contract until 2030.
“The American midfielder had also reached a personal agreement with Napoli last month, but the move was blocked after Milan reassessed their stance. Musah is now open to the idea of playing in the Premier League.”
Having left Arsenal before having the chance to make a breakthrough into the first team in 2019, perhaps Musah feels he has unfinished business in English football, with Forest the perfect place to test himself.
