New York Jets defensive tackle Jay Tufele (78) sacks Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love (10) during their football game Saturday, August 9, 2025, at Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wisconsin.
On Tuesday morning, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported,
“Packers QB Jordan Love, who is undergoing a procedure on a ligament issue with his left thumb, suffered the injury in Green Bay’s preseason opener. The team is hoping Love can return to practice next week, and the Packers expect him to be ready for the regular-season opener.”
Hopefully, the Packers will not rush Love back into action for Week 1. Green Bay’s backup quarterback is Malik Willis. This is also not the first time that Love is dealing with injury issues. He also missed a couple of games during the 2024 season with injury as well.
When this was reported, Green Bay fans had some interesting reactions to the latest Love injury. This is what some of the fans had to say about his injury on Twitter:

It will be interesting to see if Love or Willis will be the Week 1 starter for the Packers against the Lions. Green Bay won a couple of games that Willis appeared in last season for them. He did just fine in head coach Matt LaFleur’s system. With that being said, this is the second straight season that Love is dealing with a potential injury early on.
During the 2024 season with the Packers, he completed 63.1% of his passes for 3,389 yards, 25 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions. Love also rushed for 83 yards on 25 carries and one touchdown, along with averaging 3.3 yards per carry. With him undergoing this procedure now, hopefully there won’t be any complications later on.
