Throughout his NFL career, he has played for the Seattle Seahawks, the Denver Broncos, and the Pittsburgh Steelers. At 36 years old, there is a chance that the Giants could potentially be his last stop. With that being said, head coach Brian Daboll has confirmed that Wilson is going to be the Week 1 starter for the Giants when they go on the road against the Washington Commanders. Is there a chance that Wilson could be starting the whole season or will Jameis Winston or rookie Jaxson Dart replace him at some point?

Wilson started for the Steelers in 11 games last season after Justin Fields played in the first six for Pittsburgh. In that time span with Pittsburgh, Wilson completed 63.7% of his passes for 2,482 yards, 16 touchdowns, and five interceptions. He also rushed for 155 yards on 43 carries and two touchdowns, along with averaging 3.6 yards per carry.
Well, Mike Sando of the Athletic talked to many different coaches, executives, and other people across the NFL about what they think about some of the quarterbacks in the NFL. The Athletic has Wilson as a Tier-4 quarterback and the 26th ranked quarterback entering the 2025 NFL season.
One NFL defensive coordinator said about Wilson,
“He can still do some things, but I think he is just declining. Some of the throws he was good at are not there for him anymore. I did not feel like he was ripping throws. Even his deep throws were like airball stuff, hoping George Pickens makes a play.”
Well, a lot of Giants fans are liking what they see from Wilson so far in training camp. New York fans also love that he has hit wide receiver Malik Nabers in stride many times. Maybe Wilson hasn’t exactly lost his fastball just yet. If he has lost his fastball, there is a chance that he may not start the entire season for New York and it could be the time where Winston or Dart will be thrown into game action.
