GREEN BAY, Wis. (WBAY) - Green Bay Packers star quarterback Jordan Love underwent surgery on his thumb.
General manager Brian Gutekunst said Love tore a ligament in his left thumb during the first preseason game.
Action 2 Sports anchor Dave Schroeder says Love banged his thumb on a helmet when he was sacked on his last snap in the game. Love was seen later on the sidelines with his thumb wrapped.
The decision for Love to have the procedure came after he took part in practice Monday. LaFleur credited the third-year starter for “powering through” the session while exclusively handing off the ball with his right hand.
Cover 2 contributor Rob Demovsky says Love should be back participating in practices next week.
Gutekunst called the surgery a “little procedure” and said Love shouldn’t miss any time in the regular season because of it, according to Ian Rapoport.
The Packers open the regular season at home against Detroit on Sept. 7.
