The Green Bay Packers won’t have Jordan Love on the field this week.
The quarterback suffered an injury in the preseason opener against the New York Jets and will be sidelined for a bit.
“Packers GM Brian Gutekunst said QB Jordan Love is undergoing a procedure on his left thumb. It’s a ligament issue. That’s why he had it taped yesterday in practice. Said the hope is for Love to return to practice next week,” Rob Demovsky of The Athletic wrote on X.

He won’t participate in joint practices against the Indianapolis Colts, but the injury isn’t believed to be serious, and it’s not on his throwing hand.
The Packers have been dealing with multiple injuries to their wide receivers, so this is far from ideal.
Love played a couple of drives in the loss to the Jets, and the offense looked far from efficient.
Now, he’s likely to miss the final two preseason games.
He wasn’t expected to play in those games that much, yet he was fully expected to practice.
Gutekunst said the injury won’t be a lingering issue, and the team fully expects Love to be on the field in Week 1 of the regular season against the Detroit Lions.
There will be a lot at stake for Love and the Packers after a somewhat disappointing season.
They’re a contender to win the NFC, but they will need to prove they can hold their own against the best teams in the conference.
