Barcelona manager Hansi Flick is finalising preparations for the start of the team’s La Liga title defence that kicks off on Saturday against Real Mallorca.
According to Marca, the German coach has three doubts when it comes to his starting XI: at right back, center-back and attacking midfield.
Eric Garcia has apparently impressed Flick so much in pre-season that he’s now a serious contender for a starting spot at right-back along with Jules Kounde.
Flick is also yet to decide on his center-back pairing after Inigo Martinez departed. Pau Cubarsi will start the game but will have to wait and see if it’s Ronald Araujo or Andreas Christensen next to him.
The final decision for Flick to make seems to be between Gavi, Fermin Lopez, and Dani Olmo in midfield.
Lopez is in with a real shot after his performance in the Gamper Trophy, particularly with Olmo having injury issues recently.
Yet Gavi also starred on the pre-season tour of Asia, giving Flick a pretty nice selection headache for the trip to Mallorca.
