Manchester United failed to qualify for Europe based on the performances throughout the 2024/25 campaign, which saw the Red Devils finish 15th.
For the first time in a decade, there will be no European football coming to Old Trafford during the 2025/26 season.
Manchester United only have themselves to blame, having finished 15th and also lost the Europa League final to Tottenham in a weak 1-0 defeat at the San Mames Stadium.
As a result of no Europe, United’s financials were expected to take a hit and investment was needed to keep the club in line with the plans laid out by Ineos.
However, Ruben Amorim will be delighted with no Europe, as it gives him more time on the training ground to make his team a success in order to get back to the Champions League this time next year.
So while United won’t be in Europe this season, there are a few loanees who may end up in the competition, as Red Devils players watch on enviously. Marcus Rashford joined Barcelona on loan and will therefore play Champions League football, but he might not be alone representing United in the competition.

Harry Amass wanted on loan at PSV this season
Alongside Rashford, Enzo Kana-Biyik has a chance to play in the Conference League for FC Lausanne Sport, as they look well placed to qualify for the proper tournament.
However, there could soon be a third soon as PSV are now in the hunt to win the loan signature of Harry Amass this summer.
More United News
Amorim left Amass out of pre-season, and since then the 18-year-old has been on the agenda for multiple clubs looking to bolster their squads with a left-back.
Now, the Daily Mail have reported that PSV are making their push for Amass in an effort to beat the Championship teams to the signing this summer.
Amass also has an offer from Sheffield Wednesday, however, PSV have made their pitch to Amass’ camp and will also be able to offer him Champions League football after their league winning 2024/25 campaign.
Mason Mount could play a big role in advising Amass, having spent some of his younger years at Vitesse on loan, so could be a shining example for the teenager.
If Amass makes the move, it would be the second United full-back loaned by PSV in two windows after Tyrell Malacia failed to impress there in the second half of last season.
This would be a really interesting move for Amass, and would be excellent experience in a major European league, if he gets the minutes he needs. United will want assurances over game time, and Wednesday would give Amass that in an abundance, while it would also force the full-back to evolve the defensive side of his game considering the financially struggling side are relegation favourites.
James Scanlon and Toby Collyer also expected to head on loan from Manchester United
While Amass is without a doubt the hottest loan commodity United have in the academy right now, there are others who will likely also be sent out.
According to the same report, last season’s U18 standout performer James Scanlon is currently wanted in Scotland by clubs who are now beginning to push for his signature, although no talks are advanced, with United preferring to keep him in the U21s.
Amorim clearly rates Scanlon, having him in first team training often, however with the interest there is a big chance that he does get a loan later in the window if the chance presents itself.
Elsewhere, Alan Nixon has reported that Toby Collyer is also attracting interest.
Collyer is wanted by Wednesday alongside Amass, but now Hull City have entered the race, with several Championship sides all keen.
Collyer needs first team football and a year in the Championship could be a world of good for the midfielder talent.
