Real Madrid star ‘is not expected to be a key player’ this season

A member of the attacking ranks at La Liga giants Real Madrid will not be afforded a prominent role this coming season, in the case of staying put through the close of the transfer window.

That’s according to The Athletic, who point towards Rodrygo as the player in question.

Frontman Rodrygo has of course seen his name reemerge as an altogether prominent one in the headlines in Spain’s capital over the last 24 hours.

This comes amid the understanding that Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City are giving serious consideration to a move for the Brazilian international.

And as alluded to above, if ensuing word doing the rounds on Tuesday is anything to go by, then Rodrygo may be best served pushing to ensure that such a transfer goes through.

As per a report from Blancos insider Mario Cortegana of The Athletic:

‘Rodrygo is not expected to be a key player this season under the coach and the club’s plans.’
