Liverpool agree 'personal terms' with PL star, deal could be done soon

Liverpool are reportedly close to securing a deal for Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi in the summer transfer window.

The Reds have splashed over £250m to sign as many as seven players this summer, but they are not done yet.

Amid reported interest in Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak, Arne Slot has turned his attention towards bolstering the defence.

The Reds have been linked with a move for Guehi throughout the summer, and they were encouraged to make a formal move after Palace chairman Steve Parish admitted that the England defender could be sold.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the Reds have agreed 'personal terms' with Guehi, and negotiations between the two clubs are underway.

The Eagles were initially looking at a fee of around £48m for the 25-year-old defender who has only a year left on his current deal.

Romano claims that the Reds are looking to secure his deal for a total package of £35m, which would once again reflect a great business from the Premier League champions.

In recent weeks, Liverpool have been linked with Giovanni Leoni, who was seen as an alternative for Guehi.

The transfer expert has clarified that Leoni is keen on the move to Anfield, and his potential move is irrespective of the Guehi deal.

Liverpool needed to sign a new defender this summer after selling Jarell Quansah to Bayer Leverkusen.

Virgil van Dijk, Ibrahima Konate and Joe Gomez are options for Slot at the centre-back role, and Guehi's arrival will only make the squad even stronger.

The Palace defender has been outstanding for the club since moving from Chelsea, and he can take his career to the next level at Anfield.

Manchester United reportedly made an approach for Guehi, but it appears he is heading towards Liverpool instead.
