NUFC Feed readers have their say on which newly-linked striker Newcastle United should pursue

ยท 12 August 2025, 20:30

**In the past week, two new names have come into the frame as potential replacements for Alexander Isak as the 25-year-old pushes for a Newcastle United exit.**

So far this summer, Newcastle have missed out on signing Liam Delap, Joao Pedro, Benjamin Sesko and Hugo Ekitike to replace Isak, leaving few options for the Magpies to pursue.

However, the media keep managing to find new names to titillate fans with and recently, two more have popped up in the NUFC news sphere.

Greece international Vangelis Pavlidis, who bagged the brace that gave Greece their first ever win over England last year, and Samu Agehowa, who has been impressing for FC Porto in the Portuguese top flight.

Pretty clear result

Fans want to see Samu Agehowa in a Newcastle shirt this season

--------------------------------------------------------------

We asked our readers in a poll which they would prefer out of Pavlidis and Samu, or whether they'd rather we didn't go for either, and the results were pretty clear.

Over 50% of our readers who took part in the poll would prefer to see the Magpies move for Samu Agehowa.

The 21-year-old has already bagged two goals in his first game of the season for Porto, which will certainly increase his appeal.

98 people weren't keen on either option

---------------------------------------

There was still plenty of love for Vangelis Pavlidis, which suggests that fans wouldn't be too disheartened if the 26-year-old ended up on Tyneside.

Almost 100 people said we shouldn't pursue either of them, which certainly begs the question of who they'd like to see come in, or if they actually believe there's still a way back for Isak.

Whether Newcastle are able to bring anybody in this summer to lead the line remains to be seen. Time is ticking, and history suggests it's not going to be easy.
