Aaron Rodgers is not happy: ‘I’m trying to change’

Aaron Rodgers is gearing up for what he expects to be his last season in the NFL. Rodgers will spend it in the Steel City as the quarterback for head coach Mike Tomlin and the Pittsburgh Steelers.

However, the new city isn’t the only change Rodgers has to acclimate to. The four-time MVP winner has to sport a new helmet this season, after his helmet from last year, the Schutt Air XP Pro Q11 LTD, has been banned for failing to meet the league’s new safety regulations, per ESPN.

Rodgers has switched to the Schutt Air XP Pro VTD II, but he isn’t enjoying the experience.

“I don’t like it, no,” he said on Tuesday. “I’m trying to change. We’re in the process still. It looks like a damn spaceship out there.

“We got to change it. The face mask doesn’t fit the helmet because that’s an old face mask, obviously just like I’m old, but we’re trying to find the right helmet right now.”

This isn’t Rodgers’ first time voicing his frustrations with the change. He also complained about the helmet earlier in the offseason during minicamp.

“I can’t stand the helmet,” he said in June. “I’ve worn a Schutt for 20 years, and somehow it finally didn’t pass the safety standard.”

It’ll be interesting to see if Rodgers has fully made the adjustment by the time the regular season starts.
