Liverpool are ready to meet Parma’s demands as they look to complete the signing of Giovanni Leoni.
According to Calciomercato.it, Liverpool are prepared to go all out to sign Giovanni Leoni. The Reds have been scouting him for some time and are now ready to meet Parma’s €40 million asking price to secure his signature.
The Merseyside club have forked out a fortune to reinforce their attack ahead of the new season. While they are still after the signature of Alexander Isak, Arne Slot is also keen on making a few defensive additions.
Liverpool are pushing to sign two new central defenders in the final phase of the transfer window. They are closing in on the signature of Marc Guehi as well as Leoni. Fabrizio Romano recently revealed that they have agreed on personal terms with Guehi, while the Parma centre-back is keen on joining the Merseyside club.
Leoni has gone from strength to strength since joining Parma from Sampdoria last summer. While he spent most of the first half of the season on the bench, the 18-year-old worked his way into the starting XI and became one of their cornerstones in the second half.
He featured in 17 league games and even scored a goal. While the majority of his appearances came at the heart of the defence, he was also deployed as a right-back on occasions.
His impressive performances have caught the attention of multiple top clubs. Italian giants Inter Milan are keen on securing his services as they look to reinforce their ageing backline. However, they face tough competition from Premier League giants Liverpool.
Liverpool set to win race for Leoni
While Inter are not out of the race, the Merseyside club’s financial strength could prove too much for them. The Reds have been scouting the teenager for some time. They have all the data on the teenager and are quite impressed with what they have seen.
Liverpool are confident about his massive potential and are willing to make a significant investment to secure his services. With four years left on his deal, Parma are looking for €40 million, and the Reds have no problem meeting their demands.
The Merseyside club are more than ready to fork out that big a fee to sign the teenage sensation. With the player also keen on making the switch, this move could certainly go through before the end of the window.
