There have been concerns about Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford’s back before the 2025 NFL season begins. Stafford has had a history of injuries throughout his NFL career.

Sarah Barshop, a Rams reporter for ESPN.com reported on Tuesday on Twitter,
“Matthew Stafford is not out with the other quarterbacks to start practice.”
With him missing practice, many are wondering if his back is more injured than originally thought or if they are just trying to hold him out until Week 1 of the 2025 regular season begins when they have to face the Houston Texans. If Stafford misses time in 2025, Jimmy Garoppolo is projected to be the starting quarterback for the Rams and there could be a chance that they may not repeat as NFC West champions.

There are a lot of mixed reactions about the Rams quarterback missing practice once again on Tuesday. This is what some fans had to say about it on Twitter:

Stafford’s back injury raises serious concerns. Only 3 QBs aged 37+ have won a Super Bowl as starters (Brady, Manning, Elway)?

He’s done. Time to hang them up. Especially if he needed an epidural.

There are a lot of people wondering how the offense will look for head coach Sean McVay if Garoppolo has to run the offense this season and not Stafford. Los Angeles finished with a 10-7 record last year and won the NFC West. The Rams beat the Minnesota Vikings in the wild card round before losing to the Philadelphia Eagles in the divisional round.
During the 2024 season, Stafford completed 65.8% of his passes for 3,762 yards, 20 touchdowns, and eight interceptions. He is 37 years old and there is no doubt that the Rams will be looking to draft a quarterback after the 2025 season. There is a world where Los Angeles could have Garoppolo start more games in 2025 than Stafford does because of his back injury also.
