The young Seagulls came from behind to win 2-1 at Aldershot in their opening National League Cup group fixture.
They arguably deserved the win against what was also a youthful Shots team.
But the goal which put them back on terms in the 78th minute had very little to do with their own play as Cameron Hargreaves inexplicably sent a stray pass past his own goalkeeper under no pressure.
A drinks break immediately followed and play had been back in progress for just 23 seconds when the Seagulls scored their winner.
Kasvosve, the former Bristol City youngster who looked bright in the recent friendly at Whitehawk, won possession and sent Shane Nti away to finish coolly.
The goal which put Aldershot ahead on 71 minutes was also rather curious.
Action had stopped for an injury to Albion’s Josh Robertson, for which Aldershot had sportingly put the ball out of play, and that interruption doubled up as a drinks break.
Albion also made two substitutions.
When play eventually restarted, the visitors gave the ball back to James Clarridge from the throw-in and, after a slight pause, he delivered a through pass from deep inside his own half.
With the Seagulls having seemingly lost concentration, Hady Ghandour went through to lob a nice finish past Steven Hall.
Albion head coach Shannon Ruth, whose side open their Premier League 2 campaign at home to West Brom on Sunday, was delighted with his side’s work.
He said: “It was an important result for us because it showcased what is a key philosophy for the manager.
“That is, what we do against the ball, how together we are as a team and how relentless we are with our work.
“When someone presses, they absolutely press - all in, with zero doubt - and without the ball we were really good.”
The one setback for Albion was an injury which forced defender Freddie Simmonds out of the action early on.
The skipper had already had lengthy treatment on the pitch but opted to play on.
He pulled up a few minutes later and seemed to put his hand on his left thigh or hip before making it clear he could not continue.
