It was a strong start to the day for Justin Fields and the Jets offense, followed by an ineffective team period before a solid finish in an up and down day against the Giants. Gang Green hosted big blue for a joint session ahead of their meeting this weekend at MetLife Stadium.
Very interesting practice for #Jets QB Justin Fields. He finished 7 of 12 with a TD.
5 of 5 to start practice. Then 0 for 4. Finished 2 of 3 with the really impressive TD to Jeremy Ruckert in red zone (starter 18 yard line).
The offensive performance was a bit alarming in…

According to Connor Hughes of SNY, Fields started the session off by going 5 for 5 but then had a streak of four incomplete passes in a row. He then finished up with a touchdown strike to tight end Jeremy Ruckert.
For Fields, it’s another of many sessions in which he showed flashes but struggled with consistency. Given the fact that he’s on his third team in three years, having ups and downs shouldn’t come as a surprise.
Other notes from practice:
Rookie quarterback Brady Cook left with an apparent ankle injury and head coach Aaron Glenn didn’t sound too concerned, saying it wasn’t a major injury.
Adrian Martinez had one of his best days of camp, throwing multiple TD’s and connecting with rookie tight end Mason Taylor on a deep shot down the field.
First round pick Armand Membou reportedly struggled going one on one with Giants DE Brian Burns.
