New Orleans Saints: Host Pro Bowl Interior Offensive Lineman

Injuries have decimated the New Orleans Saints’ interior offensive line throughout their first month of training camp. While Nick Saldiveri will miss the entire 2025 season with a knee injury and Will Clapp is also out for the season with a foot injury, Trevor Penning suffered a foot injury and will miss a few weeks of camp, with hopes of being ready for Week 1. Because of the injuries and their relatively weak interior depth, the Saints could bring in a veteran free agent.

According to Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football, the Saints hosted 12 players for a workout on Tuesday, including veteran offensive lineman Cody Whitehair. The 33-year-old Pro Bowler spent the first eight years of his NFL career with the Chicago Bears, where he played left guard, center, and right guard. Whitehair started 124 regular-season games, making 118 starts, and earned a Pro Bowl selection in 2018.

Unfortunately, the Bears released him during the last offseason.

The Las Vegas Raiders signed Cody Whitehair in April 2024, and he started two of the first three games at left guard with Jackson Powers-Johnson sidelined. When JPJ recovered, he replaced the veteran Pro Bowler in the starting lineup in Week 4, and Whitehair did not start until Week 9 when Powers-Johnson moved to center. Unfortunately, he suffered an ankle injury in Week 9, resulting in him missing the next four weeks, and he only played eight snaps for the rest of the season.

Whitehair allowed nine pressures, eight hurries, and one quarterback hit while posting a 61.0 pass-blocking grade, a 37.9 run-blocking grade, 44.7 PFF grade across 12 games, three starts, and 221 offensive snaps.
