Man City 'reach agreement' with PL club over McAtee exit

Manchester City have reportedly reached an agreement with Nottingham Forest over the sale of James McAtee.

The 22-year-old spent the 2024-25 campaign with Pep Guardiola's side after spending the best part of seasons on loan at Sheffield United.

However, McAtee struggled for regular playing time last term, settling for just nine starts in 27 appearances in all competitons.

As a result, there has always been a belief that McAtee could depart this to gain regular game time elsewhere, especially after he showcased his talents in England's triumph at the Under-21 European Championship earlier this summer.

A recent report claimed that Nottingham Forest were in pole position to secure the attacker's services before the end of the summer transfer window.

Man City agree McAtee sale

According to journalist Ben Jacobs, Forest now have 'agreement in place' with Man City over the transfer of McAtee.

The update stops short of stating how much Forest will pay to sign a player who has entered the final 12 months of his contract.

McAtee has given his green light to the move, having reached an agreement over personal terms with the Tricky Trees.

There is a belief that the transfer will be 'formalised' before the end of the week, with McAtee set to join a club that will compete in the Europa League this season.

The 22-year-old will offer Nuno Espirito Santo useful versatility due to his ability to play as a central midfielder, number 10 or even as a winger.

McAtee set to follow Grealish out of exit door

McAtee is on the brink of becoming the latest attack-minded player to leave Guardiola's squad this summer.

Like McAtee, Jack Grealish has left the club in a bid to find regular minutes elsewhere, having completed a loan switch to Everton ahead of the new Premier League season.

Savinho has also been linked with a surprise departure after emerging as a transfer target for Europa League winners Tottenham Hotspur.

Man City have reportedly identified Real Madrid's Rodrygo as a potential target if Savinho leaves the club before the end of the transfer window.
