FC Barcelona remain focused on boosting their finances ahead of the close of the summer transfer window, with the aim of regaining La Liga’s 1:1 spending rule and completing the registration of pending squad members. While the club awaits final approval for the €100 million sale of VIP seats at the Spotify Camp Nou, another potential source of income has emerged through a former player.
Italian outlet Gianluca Di Marzio reports that AS Roma have renewed their interest in Abde Ezzalzouli. The Moroccan international, now with Real Betis, has been identified by Roma coach Gian Piero Gasperini as a top target to strengthen his attack. Abde had previously been linked to the Serie A side earlier in the summer.
Barcelona sold Abde to Betis in 2023 for €7.5 million, retaining 50 percent of any future sale. However, that figure dropped to 20 percent earlier this year when Betis facilitated Vitor Roque’s move to Palmeiras, securing an additional 30 percent of Abde’s rights in the process.
Roma are reportedly willing to offer €20 million for the 23-year-old, whose current market value is estimated at €12 million. If the deal goes through at that price, Barcelona would receive around €4 million. The money would be a welcome addition to the club’s finances, especially after already earning significant sums from sell-on clauses this summer, including €8 million from Jean-Clair Todibo’s transfer to West Ham United.
Abde has endured a challenging pre-season due to injury, featuring sparingly for Betis, who are temporarily playing at La Cartuja while renovations continue at the Benito Villamarín. Whether or not the transfer materializes, Barcelona will be watching closely, knowing that the outcome could provide a timely financial boost.
