Arsenal could face competition for a major transfer target
This could be a make-or-break season for Arsenal and for Mikel Arteta. After a trio of second-placed finishes, fans are demanding that the Gunners must take the leap to winning major silverware in 2025/26.
No side has ever finished second in the Premier League four years in a row but Arsenal will have been worried by champions Liverpool’s transfer business, particularly if the Merseyside outfit can secure the huge signing of Alexander Isak before the window is up.
The Gunners have already made marquee signings of their own this summer such as Viktor Gyokeres and Martin Zubimendi, while several more new faces have been brought in to add more depth to a strong squad. The belief around some fans is that it may still take one more big-name signing in the wide areas to complete a huge transfer window of business, though there may be serious competition for the best options on the market.
Man City ‘seriously considering’ Rodrygo move
In something which could immediately switch the Premier League power dynamic back towards Manchester, Pep Guardiola’s Man City are ‘seriously considering’ a move for Rodrygo according to reports by Fabrizio Romano on X. The report states that Guardiola is a ‘big fan’ of the Brazilian and is pushing for the move to work with him.
Romano said: “More on Rodrygo story from Monday. Pep Guardiola, big fan of the Brazilian and pushing for this option. Manchester City are seriously considering Rodrygo in case of Savinho exit as revealed… and Pep would love to work with him.”
Rodrygo ‘one of the best’ - Ancelotti
Former Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti previously praised Rodrygo for his impact on the team after a 1-1 draw with Sevilla in La Liga.
He said: “[Rodrygo] has been one of the best, if not the best. Rodrygo and Vinicius created many opportunities in the first half, we were close to scoring, and in the second we lacked energy, we suffered more and we did not have control as we wanted. Rodrygo hasn’t failed. He has shot more times than others, he has tried more. The important thing is that he continues to play good.”
Many believe Rodrygo has what it takes to take the Premier League by storm if he were to complete a sensational move to England. Arsenal must be wary of letting one of their top targets head to a direct title rival, even if they are able to secure Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze in his place.
This is set to be a huge season for Arsenal and Arteta must keep the fans in tune with the club’s project as his Gunners side aim to give everything to finally end their 21-year wait for Premier League title glory.
