NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - The Tennessee Titans’ 10-day road trip has had plenty of teachable moments so far.
Tuesday’s first joint practice in Atlanta with the Falcons fell right in line with that.
“We keep saying we’re starting slow. We started slow in Tampa. We started slow in Atlanta,” said defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons.
“It’s time to start fast.”
It’s one thing to say it. It’s another to do it.
And the Titans have yet to set the tone from the beginning on any leg of their current trip.

“It’s a mindset thing,” said cornerback Jarvis Brownlee.
“It’s how you approach the day. It all starts with how you wake up in the morning. We’ve just got to be more productive and bring more energy.”
We’ve heard the term “sense of urgency” plenty from the Titans throughout camp. But, there seems to be a disconnect from the idea to the execution. At least on this road trip.
“It’s football. Football is not perfect,” said receiver Calvin Ridley, who was a bright spot for the Titans practicing against his former team.
“Everybody wants the game to be perfect. The media makes the game seem like we’ve got to be perfect. Everyone wants us to catch every pass. It’s not going to always be good. Everyone’s not going to always feel good. We’ve been on the road, you guys know that. We’re going to look at it. This is good for us.”
The players maintain their struggles are a positive thing because it gives them something to work towards improving.
We’ll see if they can put that theory to work on Wednesday, when they practice for the second time against a Falcons team that seemed to be doing most of the teaching on Tuesday.
