The Virginia Tech Hokies struck gold two years ago when running back Bhayshul Tuten transferred to VT from North Carolina A&T.

In his first season with the Hokies, Tuten appeared in all 13 games, carried the ball 173 times for 863 (5.0 YPA) and rushed for 10 touchdowns. He also caught two touchdown passes and returned two kicks for touchdowns.

As a senior in 2024, Tuten rushed for 1,159 yards on 183 carries (6.3 YPA) and scored 15 touchdowns. He also had two receiving touchdowns. Tuten did it in only 11 games, while missing parts of two others with a nagging injury.

In the 2025 NFL draft, Tuten went in the fourth round to the Jacksonville Jaguars. One knock on Tuten coming into the draft was his fumbles. If he cleaned up any issues holding onto the football, he could be a long-time NFL starter.

Over the weekend, Tuten appeared in his first NFL preseason game. How’d he do?

Tuten appeared in 20 offensive snaps, carried the ball six times for 24 yards and a touchdown. He also had two receptions for 16 yards. After the game, head coach Liam Coen was pleased with what he saw from Tuten.

“I thought he ran it pretty well, actually,” Coen said, via Paul Bretl of Jags Wire. “From a physicality standpoint, if you’re going to take the positive from the other night, was on both sides of the ball was physical. We stopped the run and we ran it okay, but we ran it when we kind of needed to--it became a little bit more of a throw game. But I thought he did some nice things. He was able to make some guys miss in the hole. He ran hard, he had good ball security, so I was pleased with Tuten.”

If you’re into fantasy football, buy stock in Bhayshul Tuten now, before it’s too late.
