The new season is nearly here and Leeds United will soon be back in Premier League competition, but what does the season have in store?
Leeds United have enjoyed a fruitful summer. They are one of the Premier League’s biggest spenders after bringing in seven new signings in preparation for the top flight.
Daniel Farke has specifically increased the height and physicality of his side to make them a challenging proposition for teams but there’s still work to do before deadline day.
Leeds are lacking in attacking flair after missing out on Igor Paixao, and Farke himself criticised his side’s lack of quality going forward during the summer.
A winger, playmaker and striker are all being targeted and they will be crucial if Leeds are to buck the trend of relegated teams going straight back down.

The size of the task is obvious given what has happened to the last six promoted teams. If anyone can break that cycle, then it has to be Leeds. Do they still need some difference-makers? Yes. Do I have my doubts about Daniel Farke? Yes.
But is this squad taking shape in the right way? Also yes. Ultimately, Leeds have to be considered the team with the best chance — and we have to hope someone puts an end to up yo-yoing this season; for the good of the Premier League as much as anything else.

In true Leeds United style, they’re not going to make staying up easy. If they secure that all-important number 9 and another reinforcement for the likes of Jayden Bogle, I think they have a good chance of staying up.
Anton Stach’s performance in pre-season has been impressive and I think he could be a real difference maker this season also. Lucas Perri is also an exciting prospect, having a reliable goalkeeper. I think Leeds will stay up and finish 15th, and Burnley, Sunderland and Wolves will be relegated.

It’s going to be incredibly hard for Leeds United to break the trend of promoted sides being relegated. But if Leeds can sign a striker and a winger that make a difference, they have a chance of capitalising on Wolves and Brentford losing their best players.
Elland Road will be a massive factor and as long as the players and Daniel Farke keep the fans on side, there is every chance of Leeds securing survival.
Keeping Anton Stach fit will be crucial, his performances in pre-season suggest he will be the man Leeds turn to when a bit of magic is needed, or the pressure is on.

Luke Phelps
Leeds United are right up against it next season. I think if they already had at least one more striker in and maybe a new no.10, it’d be a different story. But I think they’ll struggle in the earlier stages of the season for sure.
That said, I think Leeds have put together a very good team. I think it’s a team that complements itself and will work well across the season, and I think Farke has enough nerve to keep Leeds’ heads above water next season. January will make or break it for me.

The odds are stacked against all of the newly-promoted teams, but Leeds have the best chance of the three. Anton Stach could prove to be one of the buys of the season, as his goal against AC Milan showed.
Farke just needs the firepower to go with the robust defence they have built. As this might not happen until the dying hours of the window, Leeds could be slow starters, as in Farke’s other two seasons, but they will scrape together enough wins to stay up… just.
