Antonio still wants Reggae Boyz place

REGGAE BOY and former West Ham striker Michail Antonio has joined TNT Sports’ team of pundits ahead of the English Premier League season.

The announcement was made by TNT Sports on Monday.

This comes days after an announcement by West Ham that Antonio, a free agent, will not be signing a new contract with the club.

“It’s in my name. I’m meant to be on the mic! Can’t wait for the new season with TNT!” Antonio said on Instagram.

Antonio, who made 323 appearances over a decade at West Ham, scoring 83 goals, and was part of the starting line-up in the 2023 Conference League final when West Ham ended their 43-year trophy drought, will now join a team of analysts at TNT Sports.

He will be joining former Tottenham and Real Madrid star Gareth Bale, former England international Fara Williams, retired Scottish professional footballer Jennifer Beattie, and Bristol City first-time coach Anita Asante.

The former Hammers striker also served as a pundit for the broadcaster during the Conference League final between Chelsea and Real Betis in May.

While embarking on this new journey, Antonio says he still has hopes to play football at the highest level again

“I’m speaking to clubs right now to see where the best offer is for me to go, and we’ll just see how it goes. To be honest, there’s a mixture, we’re talking to clubs here, we’re talking to clubs abroad, but I’m going to leave it vague,” he told talkSPORT.

The 35-year-old’s professional football career almost came to a halt as a nearly fatal car crash in December of 2024 caused him to sit out a number of months in order to recover.

Antonio, who resumed playing for the Reggae Boyz after his recovery at the Concacaf Gold Cup, says he also hopes to fulfill his dream of playing in the World Cup, with the upcoming staging being in the USA next year.

“That’s one thing I’ve not managed to achieve for myself, to be playing in the World Cup, and Jamaica is very close to it. It’s not just that. I just wouldn’t want my career to come to an end by a car crash, literally. So I’ve got something to prove to show that I can come back, I can come back and play well, which I was doing so for the last 10 years,” he said.
