It’s been a busy few days on the transfer front for Newcastle United.
While Alexander Isak sits somewhere on Tyneside throwing his toys out of the pram, the club have announced the £34m arrival of Malick Thiaw and could be set to follow that in the coming days with another addition.
The Mail’s Craig Hope reports that Newcastle are ‘pushing ahead’ with a deal to sign Aston Villa’s Jacob Ramsey, revealing that Tuesday night talks were progressing well for Howe’s ‘top midfielder target’ after links first emerged yesterday morning.
Fabrizio Romano has then followed that up with some even stronger claims, revealing that an agreement over a deal worth £40m is ‘almost done.’
Romano states that both clubs are finalising the terms of a transfer, claiming his famous ‘here we go’ is coming soon as we look to follow up moves for Elanga, Ramsdale and Thiaw with the arrival of another midfielder.
The 24-year-old ‘only wants Newcastle’ and will seemingly turn down any approach from West Ham to seal a move to St James’ Park.

With only two years left on his deal and no agreement over a potential extension, it seems Newcastle have stepped in and moved quickly for another long-term target of Eddie Howe’s.
Ramsey is a strong runner, a goal threat and versatile midfielder able to play as a left-sided no. 8, out wide or even as a no. 10, adding athleticism, energy and versatility to our squad.
